Adapting to life in London is always an overwhelming experience. Meeting new people, speaking a different language and intensely shielding yourself with layers of clothing from the cold of the London air is all part of the uni experience. One part of becoming accustomed to living in London is getting to know the city. This important part of adapting to uni life is very difficult as it requires both navigational knowledge of the city and a means of transportation which most travelling students do not start out with. Being an inhabitant of a society where the boundaries of real life and digital life are blurring even further, technology plays an important role in everyone’s daily lives. Most notably, smartphones are a staple in whatever people do from when they wake up to the second before they go to sleep. Smartphones are utile in several different ways but one of the most simple yet effective features of a smartphone are applications. Applications are varied in range where ordering a book from across the country or applying for a part-time job only requires just a few taps on a screen. Students with various different needs are accompanied by applications to help smoothen the ongoings of their daily lives which can be seen from the factors below.

Situation:

Applications are meant to be used in conjunction with each other as they are mostly specialised in different areas of expertise. As a result, specific applications can only be useful in specific situations. This week the applications in review will be analysed in terms of the situations that they are considered useful and how effective they are in attending to the needs of the user.

Notable Feature:

The application market is extremely competitive as it is relatively simple to create an application from scratch. This level of competition has forced developers to continuously innovate to provide consumers with utilitarian incentive to consumer their product. The applications in review will be analysed in terms of how they trump their competitors and how those features really help a student get by.

Network:

Applications shouldn’t provide students with the ability to tend to their everyday needs by isolation. Applications should be able to be used together with other users as socialising is an integral part of a student’s life. The applications in review will be analysed by their ability to connect with other users and how that helps a user as a student.

Beasiswa Clarendon University of Oxford Gelar S2, S3

Clarendon Scholarship. Program beasiswa pascasarjana ini rutin ditawarkan University of Oxford, UK. Beasiswa Clarendon merupakan salah satu beasiswa unggulan University of Oxford dan memiliki banyak peminat. Beasiswa ini bersifat penuh yang mendanai kebutuhan studi untuk jenjang S2 atau S3 di universitas terbaik Inggris itu. Setiap tahun sekitar 130 kursi disediakan dan ditujukan bagi pelamar internasional yang berminat.

Selain menanggung biaya penuh perkuliahan, beasiswa Clarendon 2021 – 2022 juga menyediakan biaya hidup selama menjalani studi di Inggris. Tahun akademik sebelumnya, tunjangan biaya hidup yang diberikan sekurangnya £15.009. Durasi beasiswa berdasarkan lamanya masa perkuliahan yang diambil. Seleksi memang ketat. Salah satu pertimbangannya adalah capaian prestasi akademik harus sangat memuaskan. Namun, peluang ini terbuka bagi siapa saja, termasuk pelamar Indonesia.

Beasiswa Clarendon dibuka untuk semua jurusan di University of Oxford, baik penuh waktu maupun paruhan meliputi jenjang master berbagai gelar (MSt, MSc, BCL/Mjur, MBA, MFE, MPhil, BPhil, MSc by Research, MTh, MPP)  dan jenjang doktoral (DPhil).

Kriteria:
1. Memiliki catatan akademik yang cemerlang: IPK minimal 3,7 untuk skala 4.00. Jika tersedia, lampirkan juga bukti penghargaan dari universitas, informasi posisi Anda, atau publikasi yang dimiliki.
2. Cakap dalam bidang studi yang diusulkan. Penilaian dilihat dari referensi akademik, proposal penelitian, bakat dalam penelitian, dan kontribusi signifikan yang kemungkinan diberikan pada bidang studi.
3. Motivasi. Penilaian dilihat dari bukti komitmen pemohon pada program kuliah yang diusulkan. Serta dari hasil evaluasi personal statement dan rekomendasi.

Pendaftaran: 
Pengajuan beasiswa Clarendon cukup mudah. Pelamar hanya diminta untuk mendaftar kuliah di program pascasarjana University of Oxford untuk tahun akademik 2021 – 2022. Secara otomatis, aplikasi yang diajukan tersebut akan dipertimbangkan untuk beasiswa Clarendon. Tidak perlu ada aplikasi terpisah atau khusus untuk pendaftaran beasiswa. Agar dapat dipertimbangkan, siapkan aplikasi sebaik mungkin.

Batas terakhir pendaftaran adalah Januari 2021. Lebih rinci bisa disimak di masing-masing program yang dipilih. Sementara, untuk program Executive MBA deadline berakhir sekitar September.

Proses seleksi:
Ketika Anda mendaftar untuk studi pascasarjana di Universitas Oxford, aplikasi Anda akan dipertimbangkan oleh akademisi yang bekerja di bidang studi yang Anda lamar. Mereka akan memutuskan apakah bisa atau tidak Anda memperoleh tawaran tempat (offer) untuk belajar di Universitas Oxford. Mereka juga akan memutuskan apakah Anda bisa diusulkan untuk menerima beasiswa Clarendon.

Setelah panelis menetapkan nama para nominasi beasiswa, daftar tersebut akan dikirim ke Clarendon Fund Administrator, yang nantinya memutuskan nama yang berhak memperoleh beasiswa. Kandidat terpilih akan mendapat pemberitahuan ini melalui email pada awal April 2021.
