PPI London is not only an organisation which holds occasional events and paid for services, but builds a sense of community amongst Indonesian’s in London. Weekly activities are a way the organisation does this by holding social events for Indonesian’s to enjoy. Today we will be discussing these events that you should consider taking time of your week to attend!

This account of PPI London is provided by Nadhif Basalama, a second year BSc Business and Management (Entrepreneurship) student at the University of Westminster and the Vice President of the PPI London 2020/2021 Arts and Sports Division, and Michael Alexander Mere, a second year Bsc International Relations student at Queen Mary University of London and a staff member of the PPI London 2020/2021 Arts and Sports divison.

Football

Every saturday we play football near royal oak station for around 2 hours. Anyone can play and we just play for fun so don’t feel intimidated if you think it will be competitive. When i came to London i barely knew any other Indonesians but because of PPI London football I made so many new friends that I am still close with until now. This activity has become a weekly routine that I look forward to every week. After we play we usually eat together too at Melur (Malay restaurant) in Edgware Road. The food is great and the atmosphere is always filled with laughter. Most of my Indonesian friends i met through football and everyone is so friendly. What truly makes PPI london football special are the tournaments that we attend every few months. If you do intend to play competitively, these tournaments were a highlight of my UK experience. Practising for these tournaments and travelling together as a team to other cities to play other PPIs was truly the best part of football. If you would like to receive further details about football you can contact me at WA: 07712263476 (Michael Mere)

Basketball and badminton

If you do not play football there are also other sports you can play every week such as basketball and badminton. The experience is equally as fun and you get to make friends here too. These weekly events are usually held similarly to football where people gather in a certain place, play for a while then go hang out. Also, these events have their own tournaments as well. The tournaments themselves are usually held by Indonesian communities and can be held in anywhere in the UK. Going to these events are incredibly fun and useful in connecting with other Indonesian’s in London so please consider joining us every week!

Walking and Cycling

For those of you who are interested in more relaxing activities PPI London also hold weekly walking and cycling get togethers. These are done at a very relaxed manner and is a great way to take your mind off of the usual business in your daily lives.

PPI London X Access Education: Mission, Solidarity

PPI London strive to build a sense of community amongst Indonesian’s in London. This organisation acts as a medium for Indonesian’s to support each other through their time in London. Today we will be hearing why and how PPI London forges these bonds tying the Indonesian community in London ever closer.

This account of PPI London as an organisation is provided by Giovanni Adhiputra Azis, second year MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation student at Royal Holloway University of London and the President of PPI London 2020/2021.

As mentioned previously, solidarity has helped me through my studies in Sydney, and I want to increase the level of solidarity of Indonesian students in London, to help each other more.

There are several plans that I have made to achieve this mission, one of which is by creating a platform for the RUDAL (Ruang Diskusi Anak London), where students will be able to discuss, ask for help, or get information from other students which will increase their level of solidarity.

It is my hope that during this term of office, I can create a sense of belongness for students towards PPI London, which in turn will increase the level of solidarity among students.

I believe that in this world we were created to be useful to each other, even we humans need our parents to be born in this world. The message I want to convey to Indonesian students is to increase the solidarity between students because actually this solidarity will make your journey easier and more enjoyable.

PPI London X Access Education: Mission, Health

Being healthy is one of the main considerations a student should have when studying abroad. Temperature changes, fatigue and a great fitness level in general are all essential to making the best out of uni life in London. Today we will be hearing how PPI London is attentive towards this aspect of their members’ lives and actively ensures that the Indonesian community in London can stay fit during their time there.

This account of PPI London is provided by Giovanni Adhiputra Azis, a masters student at Royal Holloway University of London and the President of PPI London 2020/2021.

It is very important to maintain health When studying abroad, where students will be far from their families and students must be able to care for their health independently. In response to this, PPI London provides opportunities for the Indonesian community in London to exercise while creating connections with their fellow Indonesians.

PPI London holds weekly sports for Indonesian students in London as motivation and a place for them to exercise regularly. This is a great chance for any Indonesians who are looking to have a good time enjoying sports and the company of others. We highly encourage anyone interested to join and don’t forget to bring your friends as well!

I hope that students will really take advantage of the forum that has been created by PPI London to improve their physical and spiritual health.

A healthy body can create maximum work results, stay healthy while young, so you can enjoy old age.

PPI London X Access Education: Mission, Networking

Being a medium for networking is one of PPI London’s main missions to serve the Indonesian community in London. It is able to connect Indonesian students from all across London and create a home abroad for those in need of company. Today we will be hearing the inspiration and aspirations behind this philosophy straight from man himself.

This account of PPI London as an organisation is provided by Giovanni Adhiputra Azis, second year MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation student at Royal Holloway University of London and the President of PPI London 2020/2021.

When I was studying in Sydney, Australia I had difficulty getting an internship at that time. But thanks to the existence of my friends, they managed to recommend me to a company for my intern. The story above gives the meaning that the development of networking among students is very important, which will be useful in the future.

These networking goals will be achieved by holding events that are communicative among fellow students, such as Soda Gembira, Piala Indonesia, and Makrab. Also, participation in events outside of London are great opportunities to further those connections.

I hope that the students will really take advantage of the platform that PPI London has created to improve their network.

Take advantage of your youth for networking with fellow students, because these connections will make it easier for students in the future.
